Mike Mayhugh
Senior Pastor
Mike Mayhugh grew up in Arlington, Texas, and graduated from Lamar High School. He then went to Asbury University in Wilmore, Kentucky, and received a B.A. degree in Christian Ministries. He then furthered his studies at Southern Methodist University, where he received his Master of Divinity degree. Mike has been in ministry for 30 years and has served churches in Tyler, Galveston, Emory, Bullard, Richmond, Livingston, Sugarland, Alvin, and in 2020 was appointed to Henderson. Mike has a passion for ministry that incorporates discipleship, nurture, and enhancement of ones’ gifts in ministry. Mike loves the synergy of the fellowship of believers where steel sharpens steel as Proverbs 27:17 tells us: “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.”
Debbie tipps

Debbie Tipps grew up in Ocean Springs, MS but she got to Texas as soon as she could! She graduated from Ocean Springs High School before moving west to attend the University of Texas at Arlington. She graduated in 1987 with a Bachelor’s degree in business administration. Debbie worked in the investment industry until she heard God’s call to ministry through her work as a volunteer with family ministries at FUMC Houston. Debbie graduated from Perkins School of Theology in 2013 with a Master’s of Divinity degree. During her time at Perkins, Debbie also became certified as a Spiritual Director. Debbie is married to Woodie Tipps, a native of East Texas. They have two daughters, Annabelle and Mary Margaret. The family moved to Henderson, and began attending FUMC in July of 2011.

Betty Tyson

"How much and where does the money come from?" are the words heard most often from our Church Administrator, Betty Tyson. Betty began working at FUMC in June of 1985. Over the years, she has served as Director of Children and Adult Ministries, FUMC Preschool Director for 19 years and now has been serving in her current position since 2006. Betty also taught in the public schools for 13 years before starting at FUMC. Although she loves her job, most important in her life are two children, two WONDERFUL grandsons, her family and all of her friends. When at home, she enjoys needlepointing, crocheting and watching TV. When she has the opportunity, she especially enjoys traveling with friends.

Josh grew up in Pilot Point, TX, and has been a part of FUMC Henderson since July of 2019. He and his wife Morgan met in McPherson, KS at Central Christian College, and both have Bachelor degree’s in Youth Ministry. Josh played Basketball and ran Cross Country, while Morgan played for the Softball Team at the college. Josh is currently on track to receive his Master’s Degree in Youth Ministry through Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary. He is also receiving training through the Center for Youth Ministry Training (CYMT).

Pam Brown

Pam Brown is a Louisiana native and a graduate of Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana, with a B.S. and M.S. in Business Education. After teaching at TJC for a number of years, she spent quite a few years being a mother and all of the involvement that brings. Pam and her husband, David (a Henderson native,) are the parents of one daughter, Kendra, and one son, Paul. During the past few years the family has expanded to include Esther, daughter-in-law, and a precious grandson, Samuel. David and Pam enjoy traveling and marked off the last of the fifty states a few years ago. Now they are enjoying revisiting some places, as well as enjoying trips overseas. Pam also works at David’s law office and spends her “spare” time with reading, needlework and genealogy. She has been church librarian since 1999.
